International Bioeconomy Solutions Library

Vision

Local, national and regional bioeconomy initiatives are growing around the globe. What is currently missing is a digital platform that brings together meaningful economic, social and environmental bioeconomy solutions making them accessible to the global bioeconomy community. The development of a digital ‘International Bioeconomy Solutions Library’ (IBSoL) has therefore been initiated under the auspices of the IBF. This repository is intended to facilitate stakeholder access to information relevant to national, regional and global bioeconomy development.

IBSoL will collect concrete, real-world initiatives that contribute to the bioeconomy by addressing specific benefits. The solution may be technological, business-oriented, social or environmental. The curated repository will include solutions that are operational or demonstrated in real-world settings, replicable and aligned with the G20 High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy. Given the government-led nature of the IBF, included solutions should be supported through public funding.

IBSoL will contribute greatly to public-funded knowledge sharing..

Overview of activities

  • Initial work on the digital repository has focused on reviewing existing platforms to identify best practices and ensure that IBSoL is complementary to related initiatives.

  • Functional requirements are being defined, focusing on swift submission, search and filtering navigation and solution display.

  • Definitions of bioeconomy solutions and eligibility criteria are being discussed and refined.

  • Solution submission through the mock-up website has started, with dissemination ongoing.

Key Outputs

  • Submission Guidance document that clarifies eligibility criteria, and submission process for transparent and consistent solution submissions.

  • Easy to use submission tool – see LINK.

  • Attractive and intuitive website interface.

  • Mock-up website to be presented at the IBF Plenary and the Global Bioeconomy Summit, both taking place in Dublin, Ireland, in October 2026.

  • Handover strategy for the eventual transfer of the website to a ’network of networks’ host.
